An Example of a Lite Cigarette Case
Making a lawsuit against a cigarette company may seem like an immature and childish approach to many, but they would be wrong. The issues placed forward are not immature in the slightest. There are rules and regulations put in order by the government to try and stop people smoking in public places. There are hundreds of programs and methods to try and help people with smoking problems, but many of them refuse to quit simply because they don't have the willpower to do so.
Now picture yourself sitting with your wife/husband/partner, in a fancy restaurant, candlelit, and romantic. A scenic, picturesque moment. You’re celebrating a birthday or anniversary. And to your dismay there are a group of people behind you who are smoking heavily and ruining your meal. Nobody wants to smell like smoke after a night out and have it ruined because somebody cannot kick a dangerous habit. But most of all why must you put up with it?
The answer is you shouldn’t. Now most people would get up and leave. Probably drive around and consider how the evening should have gone better. But still you shouldn’t have to put up with that. The best thing to do is complain to the manager, and he should take it into hand and throw the gentleman out of his restaurant (because there is a law that dictates you cannot smoke in a public place) or inform the person they shouldn’t smoke and to put his cigarette out. Then formally apologize to you.
A decade or so ago it would have been ludicrous to even suggest something like this, however with new information every day on how harmful smoking is, even light cigarettes, it's imperative to do something about it. You could even go as far as to make a case against the restaurant owner for putting your health at risk. It may sound foolish to go as far as this but it's necessary to get the point across that laws are made for a reason.
